WINTER/SPRING 2009 
 

YOGAspirit® style classes will inspire yoga to go deeper than physical asana. These classes embrace a teaching methodology designed to expand individual transformation and self-realization through unique healing energetic techniques and a meditative component that provides grounding and inner peace. 
 

YOGAspirit® FLOW

FLOW is a breath-synchronized class that uses biomechanics along with combined asana sequences to create a smooth flowing and energetic practice.  The classes build strength and flexibility with a deep focus on the breath and bliss.  By the nature of this practice, FLOW classes are deeply meditative, promoting relaxation and inner peace. 
 

YOGAspirit® FORM

FORM teaches the key actions and anchors of postures through demonstrations, adjustments and assists. These classes will deepen and refine your practice.  FORM classes are a therapeutic way of working with any specific needs of a student. 
 

YOGAspirit® POWER

POWER classes help to bring the body, mind, and spirit into perfect alignment and function.  These classes are challenging due to the continuous sequencing of one posture to another at a vigorous pace, but they also help to build endurance, stamina, and strength.  Breath control, isometrics, focused gazing, and the uninterrupted sequencing of traditional yoga postures are melded together to enhance self control, self awareness, and physical well-being. 
 

YOGAspirit® CORE 
This class makes the perfect warm up and immediately precedes Melissa’s FLOW class.  The main focus is to help strengthen and stabilize and ignite the core musculature of the body.  This class will blend yoga with a pilates infusion. 
 
 
 
 

PRE-NATAL

Specifically designed for women in their natal year, this class will focus on breathing, postures for strength, flexibility & relaxation, and opportunities to form community with other young mothers. 
 

KICK YOUR ASANA

This class is not for beginners.  This is a vigorous and challenging class that will take your yoga to a new level through a mix of sequences that build heat & stamina, burn calories, and increase flexibility.  Deepen your advanced practice. 
 

VINYASA POWER 
This class emphasizes strength and alignment in a balanced and thoughtful sequence of sun salutations, standing & seated asanas, backbends, and inversions.  Mixed level classes with strong focus on breath, innovative sequencing, practical spirituality, and warm humor. 
 

HOT POWER

This challenging class will combine breath with movement (vinyasa) to create internal heat and build mind/body awareness.  Emphasis is placed on developing core strength and working with alignment, finding balance with effort and surrender, strength and flexibility. In vinyasa yoga, the transitions between the postures are just as much part of the practice as the poses themselves.  You can expect to experience meditation in motion in this vigorous, powerful practice. Please bring a towel and water. 
 

YOGAspirit® MEDITATION AND BREATHING

MEDITATION AND BREATHING techniques are powerful practices that offer strategies for transforming the ways in which to respond to stressful life circumstances.  Through the process of developing objective awareness, and voluntarily controlling breath patterns, students will positively contribute to overall health such as improved immune function, pain management, increased energy level, sound sleep, lowered hypertension as well as improve negative moods and perceived stress. 
 
 
 

YOGAspirit® SPIRITUAL HEALING 
SPIRITUAL HEALING works by transforming physical pain, emotional or mental suffering, and karma that comes from a deeply rooted sense of incompleteness and separation from the core of our being out through the periphery of the physical body. These methods of yoga therapy liberate patterns of limiting consciousness by healing through active listening, guided self-inquiry, and lying of hands and sound. 
 

YOGAspirit® PRIVATE YOGA 
PRIVATE YOGA consists of a series of evaluations in various poses to determine weaknesses or key areas of limitation.  A health history includes a review of stress factors, breath, and nervous system functioning and a look at lifestyle considerations of optimal health. The developing or refining of a written home practice plan is provided on the next follow up appointment. Evaluation techniques and recommendations are specific to the individual needs and level of yogic practice.
